Mr. Mahmood Karzai: Effective Use of State Properties Helps in National Revenue Raising, Implementation of Developmental Programs

In a meeting, chaired by Mr. Mahmood Karzai, Acting Minister of Urban Development and Land – MUDL, attended by a number of directors, heard the performance report, achievements, work plans and including plan of the Deputy Affairs of Privatization.

In the beginning, Mr. Waheed-ur-Rahman Rahmani, General Director of Privatization, explained the designing of Bagh-e-Bala Park in Kabul, with having a water canal, ponds, and the irrigation networks for irrigating green areas with the necessary budget for its implementation.

Moreover, Director General of Privatization stated that the Ministry of Urban Development and Land is currently earning 1.3 billion AFN a year from the effective use of state properties.

In addition, regarding the 50 investment packages using state-owned properties, he noted that all the relevant departments have been instructed to work together with MUDL in accordance with the guidance of H.E the President.

Furthermore, according to Mr. Rahmani, through implementing these 50 packages in 5 models, the amount of 2 billion and 172 million AFN of capital will be attracted and 20,000 people will get job opportunity.

Subsequently, Mr. Mahmood Karzai, praised the design of Bagh-e-Bala Park, adding that with its implementation, significant revenues will be obtained.

The Acting Minister of Urban Development and Land added; 1.3 billion AFN in annual revenue from the use of state properties is significant and will help MUDL to implement the most urban and public programs and projects.

Additionally, Mr. Mahmood Karzai, while emphasizing transparency in collecting government real estate revenues under the ministry, added that the use of these revenues to provide public services has a significant impact on their life.

Mr. Mahmood Karzai called the preparation and arrangement of 50 investment packages a good initiative and emphasized the reality of prices and contracts, adding that considering this principle, all programs will be successful.

At the end, Mr. Mahmoud Karzai directed the Deputy Minister of Privatization to do all the related work to financial calculations according to the accepted criteria to ensure the success of investment programs and the use of government property to raise the level of income.
