H.E Mohammad Jawad Peikar meets with Chinese Ambassador to Kabul
H.E Mohammad Jawad Peikar, Acting Minister of Urban Development and Land – MUDL in the presence of Deputy Ministers of Housing and Privatization met with Wang Yu, the new ambassador of the People’s Republic of China to Afghanistan.
Moreover, H.E Mohammad Jawad Peikar, while welcoming the new ambassador, congratulated him on his new assignment to Afghanistan and considered strengthening bilateral relations important.
In addition, the Acting minister of Urban Development and Land said, opportunities are existing that Afghanistan is willing to attract the cooperation of the government and private sector of the People’ Republic of China, mentioning the Chinese Residential Township in Nila of Kabul city with existing opportunities, mutual cooperation will not be restricted to this housing projects, he added.
Furthermore, Mohammad Jawad Peikar said, given the high demand for housing, Afghanistan in South Asia has the potential to attract private sector investment that China can play a key role in this area.
Subsequently, Mr. Wang Yu, thanked the leadership of the Ministry of Urban Development and Land adding that his country is financing the 10,000 residential units in Afghanistan and will utilize the existing development opportunities.
Additionally, he pointed out that the People’s Republic of China, has great and successful experience in housing and land management and Beijing is interested in partnering with Afghanistan.
Afterwards, Mr. Ahmad Gulistani, Deputy Minister of Housing Affairs of the Ministry of Urban Development and Land provided information regarding the agreement of first phase of the Chinese Residential Township that includes 1,400 residential units at a total cost of 500,000,000 Chinese Yen adding that the agreement has been completed by the MUDL and after consent on small technical discussions will be signed and its corner stone will be laid down shortly.
H.E Mohammad Jawad Peikar added, based on the vision of the President of Islamic Republic of Afghanistan, economic self-sufficiency is the priority of the leadership of the government, in order to reach this goal, effective use of state land for economic growth and prosperity, has been at the forefront of the Ministry of Urban Development and Land, the cooperation of People’s Republic of China will be helpful in this area.
H.E Mohammad Jawad Peikar additionally said that Afghanistan is interested to use Chinese construction Technology and hoped that in near future he will open way for further cooperation between the countries.
At the end, both watched a short and informative infographic footage about Chinese Township in Kabul city and agreed on keeping bilateral cooperation.
