Mr. Mahmood Karzai Heard Housing Affairs Report
In a meeting, Mr. Mahmood Karzai, Acting Minister of Urban Development and Land – MUDL, attended by Mr. Ahmad Gulistani, Deputy Ministry of Housing Affairs, and other relevant officials, heard the report about functions, undergoing and planned projects.
In the beginning, Deputy Minister of Housing Affairs by presenting the presentation; explaining the tasks and functions of this DM in the past. Adding that the construction of 1,400 residential units in Nile Bagh Darulaman as the first phase of construction of 10,000 housing units with the help of China is in the procurement stage and will be completed by the end of the solar year.
Moreover, Mr. Ahmad Gulistani also reminded that the construction work of Qatari town located in Khoshhal Khan Kabul, with more than 600 private apartments inherited by the martyrs of the security and defense forces, is currently under field work.
In addition, he added that the construction of 3,000 jeribs of land in Behsud Nangarhar, with the financial support of India, will start with the signing of a memorandum of understanding with India. Mr. Gulistani, referring to the decree No. 305 of the President, added that the Ministry of Urban Development and Land has been instructed to build 200,000 housing units under the direction of the decree of the President.
Subsequently, Mr. Mahmood Karzai, while praising the achievements in the housing sector, added that the functions performed indicate good human capacity in the ministry.
Furthermore, head of the Ministry said; the role of MUDL in attracting private sectors’ investment to provide housing is vital and more efforts should be made to attract investment with the participation of public and private partnerships.
Mr. Mahmood Karzai added projects and settlements in order to be successful, it is necessary that from now on the settlements should not be specified to the specific class of society, however, all classes of the society can live in them.
Likewise, Mr. Mahmood Karzai, instructed the Deputy Minister of Housing to attract the cooperation of Qatar's Al-Gharafah Institute, which is currently funding the Qatari settlement project in Khoshhal Khan, to create and advance the affairs of new Kabul City.
Mr. Mahmoud Karzai, while emphasizing the acceleration of affairs and focusing on practical work and timely services to the public in the housing sector, insisted on reducing rates and said; delivering housing in exchange for monetary installments is a fundamental way to respond to housing demand.
