Upgrading Plans Implementation Brings Remarkable Changes in Informal Urban Settlement Residents’ Lives

The Ministry of Urban Development and Land – MUDL, in close cooperation with sectorial departments, particularly the municipalities, has prepared five Renovations Plans for Urban Informal Settlements and Unplanned Areas of Faryab, Sar-e Pol, Samangan and Parwan, moreover, recently Mr. Mahmood Karzai, Acting Minister of MUDL, in the presence of mayors and MPs of the provinces, approved the plans.

Moreover, the ministry is committed to continue the registration of urban informal and unplanned houses through the design and arrangement of improvement plans to provide ground for the implementation of improvement and rehabilitation projects in urban informal and unplanned areas.

Furthermore, with the implementation of improvement plans, discrimination between formal and informal areas will be eliminated, the same urban services will be provided to the residents of these areas, and eventually urban informal and non-planned areas will be transformed into better and more livable areas.
