Acting Ministry of Urban Development and Land Meets Kandahar Governor

H.E. Mohammad Jawad Peikar, acting Minister of Urban Development and Land met with Hayatullah Hayat, governor of Kandahar province at his office.

In the meeting, Mr. Hayatullah Hayat reminded comprehensive townships’ plans, approved in 1396 and 1397 solar years, for needy people of Panjwae, Maiwand, Daman and Takhta Pol districts, however, the land still has not been transferred to the municipality.

In addition, he demanded to finalize the comprehensive plans and transfer land to the Ghazi Amanullah Khan Township, Hamidi Mena, Zerai District Martyrs Township, Township for Disabled in Panjwae and Karwan Industrialists Township in Daman district, respectively.

Subsequently, H.E. Mohammad Jawad Peikar, tasked the Urban Development Directorate of Kandahar to transfer the allocated land for four townships to the municipality of Kandahar and provide ground for its effective use. However, he has given task to the Department of Land Regulation and Distribution of Ministry to prepare the land transferring proposal of five other townships to the cabinet.

Moreover, the Minister assigned the General Directorate of Urban Planning to finalize the comprehensive plan of Ghazi Amanullah Khan Township, Hamidi Mena, Martyrs Township, and Disabled Township and Karwan Industrialist Township for the purpose of approval.

Furthermore, to address issues in the province, H.E. Mohammad Jawad Peikar tasked the Directorate of Urban Development and Land of Kandahar to send the arrange list of IDPs for the purpose of resettlement in order to allocate land to construct township for them.

In the meantime, the minister guided the relevant bodies regarding the teachers’ townships in Arghandab and Daman districts to distribute plots based on a specific and justly mechanism and use the revenue of it on the infrastructure.

H.E. Mohammad Jawad Peikar added, although the land of Industrial Township in Daman district is under dispute the affected person will be compensated if the court decides in favor of the claimant.

Regarding to a request from teachers in Kandahar province, H.E. Mohammad Jawad Peikar directed the Urban Development and Land Directorate of Kandahar to start work on the survey of new townships in Spin Boldak, Panjwai and Takhta-e Pol districts.

At the end the acting Minister of Urban Development and land mentioned that the implementation of State Land Bank Programme is proceeding well and directed the relevant departments to pay special attention to the survey and registration of postures in the province.
