H.E Mohammad Jawad Peikar: Consolidation of 12.6km of Land Extraordinary Step in Implementation of TAPI Project
H.E Mohammad Jawad Peikar, Acting Minister of Urban Development and Land – MUDL in presence of Deputy of Land Management and other relevant directors met Mr. Muhammetmyrat Amanov, Chief Executive of (TPCL) Company and discussed the TAPI Law, accelerating land consolidation, land acquisition, assessment and protecting the two sides of the line.
In the beginning, Mr. Muhammetmyrat Amanov besides acknowledging close cooperation and coordination of the minister regarding the TAPI project, presented some suggestions relevant to protect the surroundings of the pipeline.
Subsequently, H.E Mohammad Jawad Peikar stressed on protecting the surroundings of the pipeline as the priority of the Ministry of Urban Development and Land in order to prevent harm to the environment.
Moreover, the Minister of Urban Development and Land stated that the ministry has prepared a draft of the TAPI Law in close cooperation with TPCL Company, the Ministry of Justice and Ministry of Mines and Petroleum.
Meanwhile, H.E Mohammad Jawad Peikar pointing to the international standards tasked the Directorate of Plan and Policy to modify the 25th article of TAPI law as such: “Construction in 200 meters of surroundings of the TAPI pipeline is not permitted, however, agriculture can be acceptable.” he added.
In addition, the minister added that the TAPI Law has been finalized and after sharing with the relevant bodies will be sent to the cabinet for approval and then to parliament.
H.E Mohammad Jawad Peikar affirmed that based on the foreseeing of the President of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan the TAPI pipeline will become a grand transit route and will be a bridge between Central and South Asia.
Furthermore, acting minister of Urban Development and Land extended that consolidation has been started from Kashk Rabat Sangi district of Herat province and from border to Turkmenistan, out of the total 30 kilo meters; so far 12.6 kilo meters have been consolidated, which is a big step in starting the practical work of the pipeline.
At the end, H.E Mohammad Jawad Peikar mentioned that with deployment of teams of the ministry, land consolidation process will be accelerated.
