MUDL, AWCCI Sign MoU
H.E Mohammad Jawad Peikar, Acting Ministry of Urban Development and Land – MUDL and Mrs. Afsana Rahimi, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Afghan Chamber of Commerce and Industry signed memorandum of understanding (MoU) on better regulation of women-built markets and the creation of new markets in Kabul and provinces.
Moreover, H.E Mohammad Jawad Peikar, while signing the MoU, said “Based on this memorandum, the Ministry of Urban Development and Land hands over the state-owned land and property required for women chamber of commerce and industry to create markets and exhibitions for selling handicrafts, the agency provides rentals to women of the country to help them grow and expand their business activities in 34 provinces.”
Furthermore, head of the ministry added, according to the terms of the memorandum, the state-owned land and property required for women's markets will be given as rent to the Afghanistan Women Chamber of Commerce and Industry for ten years, subject to substantial discounts.
In addition, the eighth article agreement has been signed between the parties, which will be enforced after the approval of the Higher Council for Urban Development with the aim of re-organizing women's markets in Kabul and provinces of the country with the first phase in Kabul, Balkh, Herat, Nangarhar, Badghis, Baghlan, Jawzjan, Badakhshan, Bamyan, Takhar, Sar-e Pol and Ghor.
Additionally, in light with the developmental policy of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan, the Ministry of Urban Development and Land is committed to supporting the growth of the private sector in the country by providing affordable rental state-owned land and properties to businesses, especially women investors and the artisan, which will create job opportunities for Afghan women.
The Ministry of Urban Development and Land is planning on 50 investment packages to invest one billion dollars in 1399, solar year, including three types of investment activities in townships, resettlement complexes and business centers in Kabul, Herat, Nangarhar, Laghman, Balkh and Khost.
