H.E. Mohammad Jawad Peikar: Implementation of Developmental Projects Must Accelerate in Nangarhar

H.E. Mohammad Jawad Peikar, acting minister of Urban Development and Land in a meeting with Mr. Mahmood Miakhail, governor of Nangarhar province discussed implementation and assessment of the ongoing projects in the province.

In the meeting, governor of Nangarhar province demanded quick implementation of projects in the province including Bahr Abad and Kama teachers’ township, Qasim Abad Township of immigrants, Heirs of Armed Forces Martyrs Township in Koot and Bati Koot districts, Zarawar Zahid Township, approval of developmental plans of Qasim Abad and Bahr Abad Townships, Sasaki plan designing of Nangarhar city and designing of Torkham Bandar Khoshka, respectively.

Subsequently, H.E. Mohammad Jawad Peikar affirmed that out of the total, after technical assessment comprehensive plans of four townships have been approved as well guided for rapid implementation of the remaining projects.

In addition, the leadership of the ministry added that the transferring of state land for Bahr Abad teachers’ Township has been completed and after handing over to the applicant institutions; the process of distributing plates will be started to the beneficiaries.

Moreover, comprehensive plan of Qasim Abad Immigrant Township has been approved and construction will be started by India at a cost of 30,000,000, in additions the Directorate of Urban Development and Nangarhar province is required to preserve the intended land until the practical work of the township is kicking off.

In the meantime, H.E. Mohammad Jawad Peikar guided the relevant authorities to design comprehensive plan of the teachers’ Township in Kama district on 300 jeribs of state land, send proposal of the land transfer to the cabinet also start surveying the townships in Bati Kot and Koot districts for the families of Armed Forced Martyrs.

The minister directed the Directorate of Urban Development of Nangarhar to complete the developmental plan of Bahr Abad and Qasim Abad Townships and send it to the capital for approval. Furthermore, the Directorate got the task of distributing and transferring of land to send the proposal of 100 jeribs of land for the purpose of constructing Zarawar Zahid Township to the cabinet.

Moreover, the leadership of the Ministry of Urban Development and Land explicitly stated; based on the guidance from the President of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan, the design of Sasaki plan for the Nangarhar province is ongoing and a committee is in place to complete the remaining work of the plan in coordination with the leadership of the head of Nangarhar province.

At the end of the meeting, H.E. Mohammad Jawad Peikar guided the General Directorate of Designing Urban Plans of the ministry to complete the work of designing the plan of Bandar Khoshka in Wara Daka area of Turkhan in coordination with the related departments.
