In response to the news report disseminated by TOLO news during its 6pm bulletin on Saturday June 27 2020 concerning Mr. Mahmood Karzai, the Acting Minister of Urban Development and Land, we are writing to say the allegations against him are ill informed, wrong and baseless. He is not accused of any wrong doing regarding the Kabul Bank crisis. Mr. Karzai is not indicted by the Attorney General and no case has been filled against him.
However, the only issue for Mr. Karzai, as one of the shareholders, has been clearance of his accounts with Kabul Bank. Mr. Karzai has paid all his debts with 9 percent interest and has resolved all his issues with Kabul Bank.
Furthermore, all the relevant documents are available with us and the office and archive of Kabul Bank Case Investigation Bureau. We are happy to arrange access to the documents for the press, or the media outlets can get the documents from the Bureau Office.
Therefore, TOLO news had to make its fact right, and investigate the case thoroughly before airing such allegations based on the principles of neutrality and observance of Media Law.
