Building Program

One of the most important issues in the field of construction building in Afghanistan is style and model of buildings, because buildings are the economic and cultural symbol of a country and hence, its style and model reflects the culture of a country. Major constructions in the realm of housing for sustainable cities have economic, cultural and social significance. The Ministry of Urban Development and Housing, considering this important aspect, has placed its focus on standard constructions, in which, will be discussed on its significance below here. Construction is a key factor in the country's economic saving, one of which is the increase in land utilization and the other is the most utilization of urban facilities, which has a remarkable and constructive role in raising the microeconomic level of the country.

Form and type of non-standard private buildings in many cities are a combination of urban and rural buildings. Most buildings in these areas are not built according to building standards, so most of these areas are vulnerable to natural disasters such as earthquakes and floods. Also, small and non-standard construction is one of the major dilemmas in the construction of urban areas in Afghanistan. Due to lack of facilities and infrastructure, part of the investment in construction is not used. The Ministry of Urban Development and Housing attempts to end this substandard construction and carry out general oversight over all building construction and other construction areas.

In recent years, models of public and private buildings have not been built according to the state nature of the country. Therefore, people have encountered various problems, over time. From now on, the Ministry of Urban Development and Housing will henceforth determine the specific model according to the environment, and the construction will proceed according to it. Ministry of Urban Development and Housing, has formulated comprehensive Procedures for designing, rehabilitating, estimating repairs and developing a technical mechanism, in cooperation with national and international organizations, to select effective technology, and design appropriate to the climate and natural conditions of the country.

Furthermore, the MUDH has been successful through joint monitoring with national organs and the international organization of technical and design standards for buildings, engineering networks, evaluation and monitoring of designs, research and study on the implementation of new building systems and the implementation of the best housing systems in urban areas. It also monitors corporate development projects of private companies that are in relation and agreement with the MUDH.

A Coordination Group for Designing Urban Buildings has been established by the relevant national and international authorities to coordinate all efforts to solve the problems of urban buildings. Afghanistan will be responsible for implementing the policy and strategy of urban buildings and therefore will be monitoring their implementation.
